Rotary awards over $18k in Bosque County Scholarships

The Bosque County Rotary Club held a golf tournament fundraiser in May where they were able to secure the funds needed to provide 19 scholarships to Bosque County seniors totaling $18,750. The club provided a banquet luncheon to celebrate the recent grads and their families last Thursday where they also received their award packets.

Trial set for July 11 in case against county treasurer

On Friday, June 3, the District Court of Bosque County conducted a pretrial conference in the case of Tonya Fossett versus Carla Sigler in her capacity as Bosque County Treasurer where a jury trial was ordered to be held on Monday, July 11.

Our Hearts are with Uvalde donation period ends Friday

The Meridian Tribune has joined with other Central Texas newspapers to support the families of the victims of the Uvalde school shooting. One hundred percent of the proceeds collected will go to the Robb School Memorial Fund, which has been verified as an account set up by the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District through First State Bank of Uvalde. All proceeds will go to the families of the victims. None of the monies collected will be retained by the newspaper. All expenses associated with the project will be absorbed by the newspaper. This project is open to area businesses as well as individuals.

Nellie Pederson Civic Library announces summer activities

The Nellie Pederson Civic Library has several activities planned for this year’s summer reading program, themed Oceans of Possibilities, beginning on Wednesday, June 15 at 10 a.m. This will be the library’s first year to have multiple programs for children since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

-Justin Paul York, of Blum, was arrested by BCSO Brooks on May 19, 2022, for theft of property $2,500 or more but less than $30,000, possession of a dangerous drug, and the possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1 one gram or more but less than four grams.

Valdez overtakes Perry JP runoff election

Unofficial results from the Tuesday, May 24, 2022, Bosque County primary runoff election showed Rep. Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 candidate Michele Valdez racked up 57.38% of the vote while candidate Leslie Perry brought in 40.59% of the vote, earning her a place on the ballot in November.

The places you will go - MISD graduates Class of 2022

Meridian celebrated its 2022 graduating high school seniors as they shut the book on their high school career Friday night in the Jackets gymnasium. Meridian High School Principal Dana Davis said the last few years have been hard for educators and students, but MISD was grateful to be able to gather to celebrate the senior class.
