Warmer temperatures and rain means mosquito season is underway in most of the state. With an increase in mosquitoes comes an increase in bites.

Texas A&M Forest Service encourages residents to prepare for wildfires as Texas enters the summer months. This year, wildfire activity has been below average due to the limited amount of grass across the landscape and frequent rainfall statewide.

The Steele Creek Acres Volunteer Fire Department in Bosque County received a $16,371 grant through the Texas A&M Forest Service Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program. The grant was used to purchase fire and rescue equipment, including a thermal imaging camera, radios, a generator and a defibrillator.
