Chamber seeing donations for Christmas pole lights

The Clifton Chamber of Commerce is in the process of replacing Christmas pole lights that have traditionally hung throughout Clifton during the holidays. Lights were not hung on posts along Hwy. 6 and FM 219 this year and the Chamber said the majority of the community missed seeing them.

Clifton High School senior selected to perform at the Musikverein

Clifton High School senior Gavin Poole has been selected for the 2022 High School Performance Series at the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria. Poole will perform bass trombone in early August with the Honors Performance Ensemble. Participation in one of the three Honors Ensembles is limited to the highest rated school performers from across the world.

Bosque County couple civilly charged with elder fraud

Bosque County Treasurer Carla Sue Jones Sigler and her husband, Vernon James Sigler, are facing multiple civil counts of elder fraud totaling $700,000 in Alaska. The Clifton Record has obtained more than 300 pages of court documents from the Alaska Office of Public Advocacy Elder Fraud, citing the couple.

Blanton makes CISD history

Clifton High School senior Cambria Blanton has become the first student in CISD history to letter in art. Before this year Clifton did not have requirements set for a student to earn a letter in art, but after Blanton returned from the Texas Visual Arts Scholastic Event with two gold seals, art teacher Heather Coe and high school principal Jimmy Jackson made it happen.

Every year at Christmastime wreaths are placed on veterans’ graves across the country to honor and remember their sacrifice for the United States, and this year, dozens of people gathered at the Clifton Cemetery Saturday morning to take part in the first ever Wreaths Across America wreath laying ceremony in Clifton.
