A citizen of Bosque County voiced support for U.S.-Texas unity during the Bosque County Commissioners Court’s regular weekly meeting on Monday, November 21. During the public comment period, Thomas Schenck asked the court to reject consideration of a resolution, proposition, or ballot referendum for Texas to seceed from the United States of America.
Siglers receive final judgment in Alaska

A final judgment totaling nearly $1.5 million was signed in the case of elder fraud in Alaska against Bosque County Treasurer-elect Carla Sigler and husband Vernon Sigler. An order signed last week by Alaska Superior Court Judge Daniel Schally awarded the State of Alaska, Office of Elder Fraud and Assistance $450,000 in punitive damages.
Langer Solar denied reinvestment zone

A motion to designate the Langer Solar reinvestment zone died on the table Thursday night after Meridian ISD taxpayers spoke out against the solar farm in a public hearing held before the regular board meeting. Board member Albert Hunter made the motion but board president Bobby Taylor’s call for a second fell on deaf ears and the resolution was denied, making all other action regarding Chapter 313 of the Texas Property Code irrelevant.
Band of Gold shines at Bands of America

Meridian’s Band of Gold competed in the Waco Regional Bands of America at Baylor University’s McLane Stadium last month, bringing home the Class A Regional Champion title, along with awards for Best Musical Performance, Best Visual Performance and Best General Effect.

Buffalo Beauty Barn owner Darci Allen said she’s looking to move her business inside Meridian city limits but hasn’t been able to find a suitable location. Currently located off of Hwy 22 outside Meridian, Buffalo Beauty Barn is a small town spa offering big city services like brows, facials, makeup, waxing and lashes.
Sigler abandons court appeal

Bosque County Treasurer-elect Carla Sigler, who was removed from office in August by a jury of her peers, filed a notice of appeal to overturn that decision in the 10th Court of Appeals in Waco. That case was transferred to the 6th Court of Appeals in Texarkana in October, but Sigler filed a motion with the court last week seeking to voluntarily dismiss the appeal, which was granted.
