Soil moisture levels continue to decline in most areas of the state after a months-long dry spell as warm-season crop plantings and preparations increase. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agents and specialists have reported critically dry conditions in many parts of the state over the last several weeks.

Clifton High School senior Cambria Blanton took top honors at the BAC Art Council’s High School Student Art Show at the Bosque Arts Center for her pastel ‘Inside the Ring.’ Blanton placed first in her medium as well as Best of Show, for a total cash prize of $600.

With a congregation full of local talent, the First Presbyterian Church in Clifton has started featuring work from members in the fellowship hall, beginning with Elisabeth Montgomery’s watercolor collages inspired by women of the Bible as well as needle art and Jean Davis’ quilting and needlework.

The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church are hosting a Daddy Daughter Dance on Saturday, March 26 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The dance will be held in the fellowship hall located at 303 S. Avenue E in Clifton.

On Feb. 23 the Clifton Lions Club held a fundraiser selling a full pancake breakfast for dinner.

The 19th annual High School Student Art Show reception on Sunday, March 6, from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. at the Bosque Arts Center will showcase the work of young artists from area high schools. Open to the public, the reception will feature an awards presentation and refreshments.

On Tuesday, February 15 the Bosque County Republican Party hosted a Winter Picnic and Candidate Showcase at Texas Safari Ranch near Clifton. Texas Safari Ranch opened their old western saloon complete with swinging doors and cedar tie posts for the event.

Publisher Rita Hamilton presented a check in the amount of $50 to Karen Chaney, the drawing winner in the nomination phase of Best of Bosque 2021. “Congratulations Karen, and thank you for participating in our Best of Bosque County 2021 contest,” Hamilton said.
