Ryan Chris Hampe passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2022, at the age of 49. He is survived by his loving spouse Andrea, his mother Donna, daughter Jordyn and husband Smitty Chandler; son Wyatt Hampe, daughter Shelby Hampe, and stepsons RJ Hikel, Cooper Hikel and Ryan Hikel; his sister Laura and husband Khristof Oborski; sister Shelley Hampe and husband Jery Wilson; sister Lisa and husband Roland Russ; brother Travis Hampe; foster sister Penny Templin; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Lloyd Hampe and father-in-law Paul Harmon.

Chris was born January 26, 1973, in Clifton and baptized March 4, 1973, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waco. He was confirmed on April 12, 1987, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clifton. He was a devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse where his children were baptized and confirmed and where he met and then later married his wife.

Chris had a passion for farm work and raising cattle, especially when it came to family land. He enjoyed fishing with his kids, watching Disney movies, spending time at Heart of Texas Motor Speedway races, and hanging out with family. He also loved his dogs, June and Reba.

Chris, affectionately known as Bubba by his sisters, loved big and no doubt had a servant’s heart. From assisting stranded motorists, to lending a helping hand to a friend, to making sure his family always knew he would be there if they needed him, he was one of the most trustworthy, kind, thoughtful, caring examples for those who were blessed enough to have met him.

Chris’s love for his family was above all. He never missed an opportunity to say I love you and always greeted and left them with a hug. Sending a card or calling a loved one on their birthday was top priority and he loved celebrating their accomplishments.

He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his quick wit, his courage during difficult times, and his thoughtful, kind heart.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2022, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse. Burial followed the service at OSLC Cemetery at Norse.

Pallbearers were Brent Finney, Brent Belcher, Alex Montes, Barry Pitts, Michael Odom and Thomas Oliver.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse or Central Texas Youth Fair.

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
