Peggy Pool Hurley

Peggy Pool Hurley, age 97, of Clifton passed away on July 31, 2021.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory with Dr. Doris Stevens officiating.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. 

She was born on August 13, 1923, in Valley Mills, to John Sanford Pool, Jr., and Mildred Glass Pool.  Peggy graduated from Valley Mills High School in 1940.  She then attended North Texas University where she earned her bachelor’s in education on August 20, 1943.  In 1979, Peggy studied in Paris, France, at Parsons School of Design.  She taught school in Valley Mills, Clifton, Meridian, Hawkins, and Dallas for 25 years as well as worked as a teacher appraiser for four and a half years. 

Peggy was united in marriage to Captain Joseph William Hurley on December 16, 1945. 

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Joseph; two children, Joseph Sanford Hurley and Kay Lynn Hurley Roberts; and brother, John Sanford Pool III. 

Peggy is survived by her granddaughter, Chantelle Morgan and husband, Joshua; grandson, Bruce Brendon Roberts and wife, Karmen; her beloved great-grandchildren who she treated as if they were her own, Mikayla Alyse Adams; and great-grandsons, Micah Joseph Adams and Grayson Morgan; brother, Thomas Wendell Pool; and several nieces and nephews.
