Mary Beth Owens, a very loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 20, 2021, at the age of 70.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro, with Pastor Nathan Vander Borgh officiating.  A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the funeral home.

Mary was born on January 10, 1951, in Ft. Worth to Belvin Dexter Crider and Frances Catherine Scott. She graduated high school from Trimble Tech High in 1969. She then went on to earn her Master’s in Business. Mary retired from Hill College after 20 years of service and then went to work for Marshall and Marshall and Hillcrest Garden of Memory, and she was there until she passed.  She loved her job and the people she worked with. Mary also loved her family and enjoyed any and all family get-togethers. Her grandkids especially were her pride and joy.

Mary was also very involved in her church at First Baptist Church in Kopperl. She served in the Women’s Auxiliary for the Steele Creek Acres Fire Department and was a member of the board.

Mary is survived by her son, Eric Owens and fiancée Heather Edwards; sisters, Julia Conley and husband Bob, Susan Rice and husband Roger, and Dee Dee Matakeck and husband Tom; grandchildren, Tesla Smith, Jeannie Owens, Alyssa Owens, Derek Owens, Jade Wilkins, Bryce Wilkins and Jordan Wilkins; great-grandchildren, Stella Knight, Elijah Durant, Aliyah Durant, and one on the way; stepbrother; and numerous stepsisters, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her son, Billy Shane Owens; her father, Belvin Crider; and her mother, Catherine Scott.
