Former Clifton resident Mardalee (Lee) Christy, 79, entered into rest on Sunday, December 27, 2020, in her home in Charleston, AR, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Lee was born May 12, 1941 in Long Beach, California to Gordon and June Kelso Halsey. At the age of three the family moved to San Antonio. She grew up there, graduating from Harlendale High School. After graduation she took a job at USAA. Soon, through mutual friends, she met the love of her life who was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. They were married June 17, 1961. Their union was blessed with two daughters.
Lee was a homemaker, volunteer with multiple activities at the school her children attended and held many jobs. Her favorite was owning a daycare.
Survivors include her loving husband of almost 60 years, Marvin; two daughters, Shawn Lopez of Alma, AR and Stephanie Jones of Charleston, AR; and one brother, Skye Dee Saathoff of San Antonio. Lee had five grandchildren, Kayla Pipkin (Zach) of Seminole, Danielle Stamm (Sean) of Ozark, Kelsey Jones of San Marcos, Ben Lopez of Griffin, GA, and Rebekah Lopez-Farrer (John) of Rogers, AR. She also had two bonus grandsons that she adored, Rory Doss of Buda and Dustin Doss of Carthage, TN. Mardalee was blessed with fourteen great grandchildren, Lillian, Rylee, Elliette, Aaron, Autumn, Aiden, Toviah, Tristan, Skyler, Dakota, Casen, Brooklyn, Braeden and Addy. She was also Memaw to a whole host of other children through her Country Bear Daycare.
Mardalee was preceded in death by her father Gordon Halsey Sr., mother June Kelso Halsey and one brother, Gordon Halsey Jr.
