ELLEN LESLIE BISHOP

Ellen Leslie Bishop (Nana to most), 79, of Iredell, passed on Saturday June 11, 2022, at home with loving family at her side.

Born July 17, 1942 in Offenbach, Germany, an only child, she then fell in love with an American soldier and migrated to the United States of America and lovingly married Carroll A.Bishop (passed April 2, 2009).

The Honorable Ellen L. Bishop served as Mayor of Iredell for many years, bringing vibrance and necessities to the small town. Ellen enjoyed supporting her husband in motorcycle races across the country. She was the only woman known to fall asleep on the back of a motorcycle holding her husband. She also ran multiple businesses over the years as they moved around with his military career. In her later years she raised her grandkids and enjoyed knitting, and reading as a hobby.

Survived by her daughter Patrice CA Havens, James Havens and Son In-Law Russell T Dunn; grandchildren Thomas M Dunn, Elizabeth Dunn, Kelly L Hernandez, Aldo and five great-grandchildren. She was adored by so many more than can be listed.

Thank you for all your support, love, and kindness during this time. Memorial Services will be at sea on Ellen’s birthday weekend.

In closing, Ellen loved her margaritas and purple nail polish and with that, it is five O’ clock somewhere…..CHEERS!!!
