Dieter Sedlmaier, 74, of Meridian, died June 6, 2022.

Dieter was born September 6, 1946 in Cologne, Germany to Alfred and Maria Sedlmaier. He passed away peacefully at his ranch in Meridian after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Kornelia and his stepdaughter Patricia Sanderlin.

Dieter grew up loving cars, earned his master car mechanic certificate and made his dream a reality owning a car tuning and repair shop, DS Auto Design near Frankfurt in Germany. He was also known for greatly caring for dogs. Dieter owned several San Bernards and showed with the San Bernard Club and won many prizes. In 1994, he and his wife purchased a ranch in Meridian, naming it DS Ranch, and his love of cars made him bring his eleven cars to Texas when moving here in 1998.

Dieter attended many car shows and won many prizes with his Opel Manta and Mercedes. In 2000, he started building a restaurant mostly by his own labor from the ground-up in German style, importing many of the construction materials. He and his wife Kornelia then opened the automobile-themed restaurant Zur Autobahn in 2003. He ended up as a cook while still trying to make time for his cars and working on the ranch, which he greatly enjoyed. He hosted several Opel Car Club meets at the restaurant in the early years.

He had a huge heart for animals and always cared for dogs; he was a volunteer for Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to BARK in Clifton.

Services were held at Lawson funeral home in Meridian on Friday, June 10, 2022, at 2 p.m.
