David Edwin Ponewash

David Edwin Ponewash, 74, of Whitney, passed away on April 2, 2021. 

He was born on November 23, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois.  David loved the Lord, his family and his friends with all his heart.  David enjoyed spending time at the lake, traveling and serving others.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather and friend to all.  

David is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Stella Ponewash; his first wife Theresa Lynn Kienzle Ponewash; his sons Theodore and Timothy Ponewash; sister LaVon Schroeder; brother Jim Ponewash; and stepson Darryl Bartek.

David is survived by his wife Louise Bartek Ponewash; daughter Denise Blomquist and husband Mark; son Darren Ponewash and wife Antoniette; granddaughters Ashlynn and Alicia Blomquist and Jordyn and Sarah Ponewash; grandsons Joshua, Matthew and Zachary Ponewash; stepsons Larry and Brian Bartek and their families.  

Visitation will be at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Home in Whitney on Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Services will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Whitney on Monday April 12, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.  A hymn sing will follow at St. Olaf’s Kirke (The Rock Church) in Cranfills Gap at 1:00 p.m. with a graveside burial.
