The Meridian Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly membership luncheon at the Memorial Library (Senior Center) on Thursday, September 14, at 12 p.m. The guest speaker will be Meridian Independent School District Superintendent Dana Davis.

‘Smart Lander for Investigating Moon’ to launch in September: NASA report

The Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) is scheduled to launch no earlier than Wednesday, September 6. SLIM is a Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) mission designed to demonstrate accurate lunar landing techniques by a small explorer, with the objective of acceleration of the study of the Moon and planets using lighter exploration systems.

BAC names ‘Artist of the Month’

Native Texan Leland Hensley is the Bosque Arts Center’s September “Artist of the Month.” Hensley’s braiding will be on display during the month in the Atrium Gallery daily from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Bosque County observes Patriots Day at courthouse

People across different job types, Christian denominations, and generations marked Patriots Day with prayers, music, and poetry on the lawn of the Bosque County Courthouse in Meridian Monday morning. In addition, officials at the solemn occasion – remembering the first responders who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 – took the opportunity to call on folks to serve in Bosque County’s volunteer fire departments.

From one room to the next, visitors to the Bosque Arts Center’s Bosque Art Classic marveled at the beautiful and diverse art on display. In the 38 years since its inception, the Bosque Art Classic has grown into a nationallyrecognized art show and sale that is synonymous with outstanding representational original art—especially western art.

A whopping 66 players turned out for the firstever official disc golf tournament in Clifton on Saturday, September 2. Despite the recordbreaking heat, groups of four to six players traveled together throughout the day to compete in historic Clifton City Park.

First ‘Cruisin’ Clifton’ event set Thursday

A new group of merchants is inviting the public to join them on the second Thursday of the month starting on Thursday, September 14, for fun events in historic downtown Clifton. “Cruisin’ Clifton” will have food trucks, vintage cars, door prizes, and giveaways in participating shops.
