Paxton retains place on Rep. Attorney General ballot
Unofficial results from the Tuesday, May 24, 2022 Bosque County primary runoff election showed Rep. Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 candidate Michele Valdez racked up 57.38% of the vote while candidate Leslie Perry brought in 40.59% of the vote, earning her a place on the ballot in November.
In the runoff for Rep. Texas Attorney General, incumbent Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) beat out George P. Bush, a Texas land commissioner. In Bosque County 70.78% of the people cast their vote for Paxton while Bush received 27.79% of the vote.
Other unofficial election results included Rep. Commissioner, General Land Office Dawn Buckingham, who received 61.39% of the vote, while Time Westley received 29.08% of the vote in Bosque County. In the runoff for Rep. Railroad Commissioner, Wayne Christian received 54.39% of the vote and Sarah Stogner received 39.03% of the vote in Bosque County.
In the race for a Dem. lieutenant governor candidate, Mike Collier received 74.36% of the vote and Michelle Beckley received 25% of the vote in Bosque County. Candidates for Dem. Attorney General Joe Jaworski received 62.18% of the vote while Rochelle Mercedes Garza received 36.54% in Bosque County. Janet T. Dudding received 66.67% of the vote in the runoff for Dem. Comptroller of Public Accounts while Angel Luis Vega received 31.41% in Bosque County. In the runoff for Dem. Commissioner, General Land Office, Jay Kleberg received 72.44% of the vote and Sandragrace Martinez received 26.28% of the vote in Bosque County.
A total of 1,614 ballots were cast in the May runoff election; 1,458 ballots were cast from the Republican party and 156 ballots were cast from the Democratic party. One ballot was cast blank.
