The Clifton Police Department responded to a call on South Ave O in Clifton on Tuesday, Feb. 15, where officers found a female juvenile with a gunshot wound.  The juvenile was transported to Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton where she later died from injuries sustained from the gunshot wound.

Clifton Police Chief Chris Blanton said an investigation is ongoing but foul play is not suspected at this time.  Family members were notified, as well as administration at Clifton High School.

“The Clifton Police Department sends their deepest condolences to the family of the juvenile,” Blanton said.

Crisis counselors were made available on CISD campuses Wednesday to provide support for students and staff and will remain as long as they are needed.  Referrals for additional support may also be made.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our #TeamCHS ninth-grade students,” Clifton ISD said in a statement Wednesday.  “Please keep the family and our #TeamCISD students and staff in your thoughts and prayers.”

Arrangements and ways to support the family will be shared when they become available.

The Clifton Record will continue to follow this ongoing story.  Check www.BosqueCountyToday.com for updates as they become available.
