FROM THE PUBLISHER’S DESK

The staff and I are gearing up to publish our Best of Bosque County 2020 special section and the deadline is quickly approaching. The section, announcing all of the first-place winners in the contest, will publish in the March 24th edition of both The Clifton Record and the Meridian Tribune.

Since it has been quite a few years since we did this contest, I thought it was incredible that although we moved to primarily online voting, over 1,000 individuals registered and voted. Overwhelmingly we heard positive comments from the winners that they were glad that we resurrected this contest.

Our purpose has never been to build competition between local merchants. Neither did we want to imply that one business is better than another or that our voters are experts in the nearly 100 categories in the contest. It is our intent to bring a focus on local businesses in Bosque County. People in general love to vote for their favorites and it seemed like a prime time to do it again. COVID-19 has put a damper on a lot of things, but it appears that local businesses have weathered both the pandemic and the horrific freeze in February. And this is just one way we can highlight that our local business community is here to stay.
