Meridian smothers Bartlett 7-0

The Meridian Yellow Jackets did not let the Homecoming crowd down Friday night when the defense shut the door on Bartlett, giving up only 79 yards of offense for the entire night. More importantly than allowing only two yards per rush to Bartlett however, was the goose egg they hung on the scoreboard, winning by a score of 7 – 0.

‘A BIG WIN’

Saying the 27-point shutout that Meridian football team had Friday nigt was a ‘big win’ would be simply an understatment. It was a win at the first win home game of the season; it was a 27-point win over the Frost Polar Bears that beat the Yellow Jackets 44-7 last year; it was a win that broke a 13-game losing streak for Meridian, not since the a home game in the 2018 season.

Dove Season Now Open

Dove season opened on September 1 and will run through November 1 before picking back up on December 18 and running through January 14, 2021 for the regular season. The daily limit is 15 whitewinged, mourning and whitetipped doves in the aggregate, to include no more than two white-tipped doves.

First volleyball game in 46 years

It was the first game in 46 years for Yellow Jackets volleyball to be played at home. The Meridian team might have lost to Rio Vista in three sets, but effort was certainly there said new Meridian Head Volleyball Coach Megan Styron.
