CHS fishing team ends season in 2nd place

The Clifton High School Fishing Team ended its season May 16th at the Central Texas High School Tournament Trail championship tournament on Richland Chambers Reservoir. They finished the year in 2nd place overall in the Central Texas High School Tournament. The Clifton fishing team had 7 two person teams qualify for the championship tournament this year which is the most they have had qualify for the championship tournament. Peyten and Westen Urbanovsky had a fantastic finish in second place with 13.05lbs. on 5 fish, they only missed first place by .05 pound. Jackson Newton finished 10th with an impressive 3 fish bag weighing 7.49lbs. Finishing in 11th place was Jackson Kettler with a healthy 2 fish bag of 6.54lbs and finishing 15th was Tristin Smith and Sam Cecil with a nice 3.52 bass. It was a rainy and sometimes windy day on Richland Chambers Reservoir but the teams toughed it out for some great finishes. The seven teams that qualified for the Central Texas High School Tournament Trail Championship were Peyten and Westen Urbanovsky, Tristin Smith and Sam Cecil, Levi Knox and Camdyn Mobley, Zander Windham and Layton Cockrell, Jackson Newton and Leslie Davis, Jackson Kettler and Ethan Banuelos and Sydney Fullerton and Carly Howard.

The Clifton softball team showed it can win in a variety of ways in its Class 3A bi-district series against Mildred. In game one, the Lady Cubs pounded out 13 hits and erupted for seven runs in the seventh inning to overcome a fourrun deficit and take a 12-10 victory at Mildred on Thursday.

Stinnett places 18th in Regional Golf Tourney

After shooting a 99 in her second round of the 17-3A District Tournament, Clifton’s Morgan Stinnett advanced to the Class 3A Region 3 Regional Tournament in Brenham. In her first trip to the Regional Tournament, Morgan placed 18th out of 90 girls who qualified for the tournament. Region 3 includes East Texas and Houston areas.
