While the Iredell Dragons turned the District 12-1A, Division II playoff race upside down with a shocking upset of the Walnut Springs Hornets, the Morgan Eagles took control of the battle for the District 101A, DII crown. In the process with all postseason berths still on the line, it sets up crucial contests this Friday as Morgan visits Mount Calm, Bluff Dale hosts Walnut Springs and Cranfills Gap travels to Iredell.

Bound for the playoffs again

After losing every non-district match they played during the 2022 Texas high school volleyball season, the Meridian Lady Jacket volleyball team won the games they needed in District 18-1A to clinch its third straight postseason berth. But last week, the Lady Jackets took their lumps against the district frontrunners as the Blum Lady Bobcats swept Meridian, 25-5, 25-4, 25-4, last Tuesday before losing in four sets to second place Covington, 23-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-15, last Friday.

Walnut Springs shocks Cranfills Gap in opener

With five Bosque County six-man teams opening their respective 2022 Texas high school football district competitions in two leagues last Friday night, the Walnut Springs Hornets produced the biggest surprise with a shocking 56-52 upset of defending district champion Cranfills Gap in District 12-1A, Division II.

By wrapping up the first round of District 18-1A competition victoriously, the Meridian Lady Jacket volleyball team took the driver’s seat on the road to the Class 1A state playoffs. After losing every non-district match they played during the 2022 Texas high school volleyball season, the Lady Jackets have paid the price and have learned how to win.

Down The Home Stretch

Before heading into the home stretch of the 2022 Texas high school football season, the Meridian Yellow Jackets will get a much-needed break in the action with an open date this Friday. With an extra week to focus on their final two district games, the Jackets hope to finish the regular season strong at home against Hico Oct.

Back-to-back playoff-bound

Despite already clinching a Class 3A state playoff berth for the second straight season, the Clifton Lady Cubs volleyball team still has plenty to play for with three District 17-3A matches remaining in the regular season. By knocking off the Maypearl Lady Panthers in a five-set marthon, 19-25, 2125, 25-23, 25-21, 15-7, last Tuesday, the Lady Cubs locked up a spot in the playoffs.
