Madelyn H. Porter February 21, 1926 - April 16, 2020
Madelyn H. Porter was born in Wheeler County, Texas, on February 21, 1926, the second of four children born to Ray and Hazel L. Harper. She passed from this life on April 16, 2020, in Meridian.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, July 11, 2020. Visitation with the family will be at Iredell Community Center at 10 AM with the service to follow at 11 at the Iredell Methodist Church.
Madelyn attended school in Iredell, graduating and marrying James I. Porter in 1943. He preceded her in death in 1993 after 50 years of marriage. She was a homemaker involved in local school, church and community activities. A life-long member of the Methodist church, she taught Sunday School, was active in UMW and served as pianist for many years.
She is survived by children Charlotte Myers (Stewart) of Iredell, TX, David Porter (Sandra) of
Stephenville, TX, and Cindy McCoy (Steve) of Somerville, TX; sister Jean Hulbert of Bend, OR; 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brother Raymond Harper and sister Mildred Rabinowitz.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Iredell Methodist Church or the Iredell Community Center.
