Lloyd Wiederaenders, 75, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Clifton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Clifton Funeral home.
Lloyd was born October 21, 1943 in Clifton to Erwin and Esther (Knust) Wiederaenders. He grew up in Clifton and enjoyed roaming the banks of the Bosque River fishing and hunting. He also took part in helping his parents’ farming operations and running the Mermaid Swimming Pool. In 1962, he graduated from Clifton High School. While in school he excelled in football, lettering in high school all four years and making the All-District team in his junior year. He was also very active in the FFA. He earned a Lone Star Farmer Degree and a Dekalb Award, which honors high school students for their excellence in scholarship, leadership, and agricultural work experience.
Lloyd attended Durham Business College in Waco where he met his future wife, Yvonne Jones in July of 1965. On February 13, 1971, they married in Waco. In 1969, he moved to Dallas where he began his career as a baggage handler at Braniff Airlines. His career lasted for 13 years until Braniff filed bankruptcy in May of 1982. He worked many jobs afterward but loved his job at Braniff Airlines the most.
Lloyd was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clifton and his religion always played a major role in his life. Even in poor health he enjoyed attending the men’s Bible Study at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waco.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Esther Wiederaenders and grandparents, Emil Carl and Bertha (Froelich) Wiederaenders.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Yvonne Jones Wiederaenders; sister, Helen Wiederaenders Wilson; brother-in-law, Thomas Wilson; Niece, Heidi Wilson Lezama of Merida, Mexico; nephew, Teek Wilson of Tomball; two great-nephews and three great-nieces.
