Janis Mary (Forson) Raines, 82, of Clifton passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco. The family will hold a private memorial service.

Janis was born on February 23, 1938 in Clifton, to Will and Addie (Brown) Forson. She attended school in Clifton, and later continued her education at Baylor University. On July 13, 1958 she married Charles Nelson Raines. They had four children, Charles Wayne, Norman Craig, Dana DeAnne, and Holly June. In 1967, they moved to Richardson and returned to Clifton in 1970. Aside from being a fulltime mother and housewife, she helped Charles at the Clifton Lumber Co. and operated her small business, The Clothes Line, she also worked at Bertelsen’s. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, playing the piano and writing music, but most of all she enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved doing puzzles, playing bridge, Solitaire and playing Wahoo with her family. She was a sweet spirit whose greatest love was to be around her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Charles W. Raines of Waco, Craig Raines of Clifton, Dana Philipp and husband, Steven of Clifton, and Holly Raines of Colorado; sister, Bobbie Price of Monroe, N.C.; grandchildren, Chase and Kristin Philipp of Sheridan, WY., Erik and Kaitlyn Philipp of Arglye, TX., Kristen and Jonathon Eaves of Plainview, TX., Bryan and Tiffany Raines of Mansfield, TX., Jeff and Sarah Raines of Austin, TX., Dylan Raines of Stephenville, TX., Shane, Lt. U.S. Marines and Dalee Raines of 29 Palms, CA., Clayton Raines of College Station, TX., James Compton of Colorado, Rex Youngblood of Colorado; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The last few years Janis lived at the Sunset Home where she enjoyed friends and playing bingo. She is healed now and at peace in Heaven. Mom will be missed but the love and lessons she gave live on in her family’s hearts. Love you MOM!!
