Coleta Brown, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at White Hall Baptist Church, Gatesville, with Brother Mike Barron officiating. Burial will follow at Turnersville Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Coleta was born March 6, 1934 in Turnersville to Gillie and Dora Lee Wallace.  She attended Turnersville school where she graduated in May 1952. Coleta met and married her husband of 67 years at the age of 18. As an Army wife she traveled extensively around the world. They raised three children during their Army life of 21 years. After returning from the military, they moved back to Turnersville.

Coleta completed her vocational nursing degree in 1978 from Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation. She worked for Goodall-Witcher Hospital for two years. Coleta then went to work at the veteran’s administration in Temple for many years in the cancer ward. Her passion, what she loved the most was taking care of Mathew for Dr. Marshall.

Coleta was a talented seamstress, and reader she loved to read Texas History. She enjoyed bowling, doing needle point work, shopping, researching family genealogy, and making beautiful decorations. Coleta decorated the Turnersville Tabernacle for many years or homecomings.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Donald in 2019; her parents, her infant brother and brother, Donald, Welton, Larry Wallace, and sons Alan Brown and Roger Lee Brown.

Coleta is survived by her daughter, Debra and Steve; her brother, Ronald Wallace; son, Gary and Kim; grandson, Shawn Colin and Julie; granddaughters, Kelli Mayon and Mitch, Morgan Brown; and three great grandchildren, Haley, Alex, and Jalen.
