Everyone remembers traumatic experiences from their youth. One of mine happened when I was about seven years old, in Carthage, Texas. While I’ve mentioned I am the daughter of a farmer/ rancher, my father’s parents made lifelong, Hall of Fame careers out of rodeoing. During the summers, I would tag along to some rodeos where the stock contractor’s daughter and I would run around together. Back then, everyone stayed in hotels so we’d spend our days swimming in hotel pools and such, but in Carthage we set up a slip-n-slide in the alleyway under the grandstands of that rodeo arena.
