Meridian resident turning 90

Betty Jean (Betsy) Cooper will be 90 years old on December 9, 2021. There will be a celebration with family at the home of her son, Jim Cooper, in Brazoria, Texas. Betsy was born to Frances Glynn Platt Ferris and Lincoln Joseph Ferris on the Ferris farm east of Meridian, which has been in the family since 1867. She was married for 65 years to Kenneth Cooper who passed away in 2014. She has lived her entire life in Bosque County and currently resides at Hilltop on Main retirement home in Meridian. Residents express concern over local fire chief

Bosque County Commissioners Court met in regular session Monday, Nov. 22, 2021, and during announcements and comments North Bosque EMS Administrator Linda Thiele addressed the commissioners regarding the Steele Creek Fire Chief Russell Reitzer. Thiele said Reitzer has not been certified as a medic since 2007. Reitzer is steadily listening for dispatched medical calls over the radio and responding to the scene. Thiele said recently Reitzer responded to an accident call and arrived before on duty medics did. Thiele said Reitzer instructed medics not to make scene because he was handling a “situation he had to get under control.” Thiele said medics disregarded his instruction and made scene anyways. Thiele said the homeowner where the accident occurred did not want Reitzer on their property, which was the situation Reitzer said he had to handle.

Bosque County arrests and transfers

-Royce Glenn Daily, of Valley Mills, was arrested by BCSO Talbert on Nov. 5, 2021, for the possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1 one gram or more but less than four grams – failure to appear, Bosque County warrant.

MEDC encouraging building facade program

Meridian Grass Roots cleaned the inside and outside façade of the Bosque County Historical Collection building last Tuesday in Meridian. EDC Board Member and Grass Roots volunteer Paul Hardcastle said the hope is that it will encourage other retailers to take note of the difference when finished.
