Researchers have adapted a crop model for use in the Texas High Plains to simulate crop water use and corn yield that can help producers adjust center-pivot irrigation strategies and maximize profitability with limited water.

In a season plagued by drought and high fertilizer prices, Texas A&M AgriLife scientists appreciate what guar provides in a crop rotation. “Guar is a droughttolerant, low-input crop that doesn’t require expensive fertilizers,” said Waltram Ravelombola, Ph.D., organic and specialty crop breeder at Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center -Vernon and Department of Soil and Crop Sciences.

On Fri. February 25th Superintendent Kim Edwards opened the Meridian High School gym to hundreds of families, students, staff members and the community to pay their final respects to Eliza Christine Catchings, who passed away on Feb. 17, 2022.

After the global COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020 Senior Services and Meals on Wheels were forced to shut the doors on their beloved hot cooked meals programs. Senior Services partnered with Trio Meals to ensure meals were delivered to senior citizens during the pandemic. Trio Meals cook fresh meals in the morning and volunteers would deliver them to seniors at their homes.

The next webinar in the monthly Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management Unit stewardship series is “Influence of Disease on Wildlife Conservation.” The online event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. March 3.

It was boots, business and a lot of fun at the 52nd annual Clifton Chamber of Commerce Banquet at the Texas Safari Western Town and Saloon where two couples were honored for their hard work and dedication to make Clifton a better place to work, shop and live.
