On Tuesday, May 10 Clifton City Council called to order a regular session meeting. During public comments Rosemary Hudson, who lives on the 300 block of West 3rd Street across from Market at the Mill, said although she is happy to see the business prosper, the music events were disturbing her peace.

Fire marshal presents awards at appreciation cookout

Bosque County Fire Marshal Kirk Turner presented awards to the county’s volunteer fire departments and its firefighters in an act of comradeship and gratitude during the appreciation dinner held for firefighters earlier this month. While some awards were lighthearted inside jokes between the fire marshal and departments, others came from a place rooted in appreciation.

Clifton EDC takes no action on Leon’s loan

Texas strawberry season average amid up and down weather, reports AgriLife

Texas strawberry producers have experienced an average season so far despite freezes, drought and temperature variability impacting yields, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. The growing season started in October with planting, said Russ Wallace, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension horticulturist in Lubbock and professor in Texas A&M’s Department of Horticultural Sciences.

Voters back property tax amendments

Texas voters overwhelmingly approved two proposed amendments on Saturday that will provide property tax relief to homeowners. According to the Austin American-Statesman, nearly 85% of voters supported Proposition 2, which raises the homestead exemption from $25,000 to $40,000 starting this year.
