The Meridian High School band along with the 7thgrade band and the “Not So Jazz – Jazz Band” performed together during their annual Christmas concert on Thursday, December 15. Packing the gym to standing-room only, the audience received a spectacular sampling of the young musical talent the Meridian ISD band department channels through the community.

Rural residents encouraged to challenge Internet map

Residents living in rural communities are encouraged to challenge the accuracy of the National Broadband Map before a January 2023 deadline. Emily Buckman, American Farm Bureau Federation Government Affairs Director, said the new map displays specific location-level information regarding Internet services availability.

Bosque Museum reaches ‘gold’ level

The Bosque Museum has been certified “gold” in five modules of the Standards and Excellence Program for History Organizations (STEPS). The STEPS Assessment program is offered by the American Association of State and Local Histories (AASLH).

The Clifton Independent School District’s band department held its annual Christmas concert in the Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, December 14. Band director Matt Nelson welcomed the audience to the concert featuring three bands performing Christmas tunes live for the community.

Bosque Norwegian Society celebrates annual Julefest

The Bosque County Chapter of the Norwegian Society of Texas celebrated Julefest at the Corner Drug Cafe in Clifton on Saturday, December 17. The members and guests enjoyed a lovely table of hors d’oeuvres and a meal of salmon potatoes, cucumber salad and rolls, followed by apricot cake.

MISD trustees approve contracts for property value study, audit

The Meridian Independent School District’s Board of Trustees approved two contracts with the Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP law firm during its regular meeting on Monday, December 12. One contract is for audits of the property values within Meridian ISD in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Bosque commissioners seek clarification on salary request

The Bosque County Commissioners Court tabled action on a few items up for consideration during its regular meeting on Monday, December 12, in Meridian. The court paused action on the district attorney’s request for an additional $5,000 salary compensation for his assistant Damon Kersh from the Article 59 forfeiture fund.
