This holiday season, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s Watch UR BAC program is teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and TxDOT to remind all drivers about the dangers of drinking and driving.

The Pot ‘O Gold presented Wreaths Across America groups in Cranfills Gap and Clifton each with $1,000 checks this year. Volunteers at the Pot ‘O Gold keep a list of non-profits they’d like to donate to, and twice a year they vote on which one to benefit.

Commissioner Pct. 4 and Bosque County native Ronny Liardon and his family donated proceeds from their first bale of cotton for the season in memory of the late Sherrod Fielden.

Get into the Christmas spirit at the Bosque Arts Center on December 3rd and 4th with the BAC’s annual Arts of Christmas open house. Friday will be a special evening as the Arts Center recognizes Jane Scott for her many years of service to the BAC as managing director.

The Texas Super Sweet Onion, or 1015Y, is famous for its sweetness, size and overall good performance as a cool-season crop in the Lone Star State, said a Texas A&M AgriLife expert. These qualities led to that onion’s addition to the Texas Superstar listing, following years of evaluation by Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horticulturists.

The Nellie Pederson Civic Library received a grant from the Ladd and Katherine Hancher Library Foundation in the amount of $8,900 to purchase new computers for the library. The Hancher Library Foundation, located in Columbus, Texas, considers grant requests from public libraries serving populations of 50,000 or less.

Thanksgiving is almost here and Christmas is just around the corner. With the pandemic slowing down, families will be traveling by car and airplane to visit with relatives and friends. Sadly, the risk of being in a crash is even higher this year than last with vehicle fatalities in the first six months of 2021 up more than 18% from the same time period in 2020. This is a good time to stop and think about having your child in the proper car seat before planning your trip. Although parents always want to protect their children, studies show that nationally, two out of three car seats are not used correctly. For a car seat to best protect your child, it must be the right seat for your child’s age, weight, height, and developmental stage, and must fit properly in your vehicle while being installed correctly and securely.

Cranfills Gap Veterans Park committee brought the town and entire school together at their beautiful memorial park to celebrate our United States veterans. Cheryl Niemeyer began by leading the pledge of allegiance followed by Belinda Prince singing the National Anthem.

Clinton and Greta Albrecht had a special delivery on their ranch outside Clifton last month as one of their heifers had triplets – two males and a female. While a heifer giving birth to twins is rare, triplets is almost unheard of, and it’s even less likely that all three would survive.
