My techy son

Body
We’ve done some comic strips recently about daylight savings time. Now you might think that’s old news, but to some, it’s an ongoing issue--- at least for a while. It starts off just before we “spring forward”. The questions we ask ourselves---and answer---go like this: What starts Sunday? Daylight savings time! Who wants to do it? Nobody! So why are we doing it? We don’t know! Months from now, I’ll still find some clocks that I’ve neglected to reset. Some are more difficult than others. To my credit, I never have trouble on clocks with hands.

For years there was only one option that originated in Waco, stopped to pick up passengers in Hillsboro and dropped off/ picked up at both major Metroplex airports. Vans were rarely full unless Baylor was in the midst of breaks or beginnings/ endings of semesters.

A Texas Senate committee on Friday passed an elections bill that would tighten the state’s voting rules by limiting extended early voting hours, requiring proof of disability to qualify for mail-in voting and prohibiting drive-thru voting. Senate Bill 7, sponsored by Sen. Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola, is one of Gov. Gregg Abbott’s legislative priorities this session.

All quiet on the Western channel

Mr J likes his cigars, he likes his scotch and he likes his Westerns. I’ve been to Mr J’s numerous times on pre-scheduled or client dropby visits. I enjoy the drive to his house and particularly love the magnificent view of the lake from his living room. Yet, every time I go I find him with his back to the view, his attention centered on the TV set, the station dial locked on GRIT.

PUC chair resigns in wake of call to energy investors

Body
Arthur D’Andrea, the chair and sole remaining member of the Public Utility Commission, resigned late last week at the request of Gov. Gregg Abbott. D’Andrea pledged to remain on the PUC until Abbott names a replacement. In the announcement Abbott said in part, “Texans deserve to have trust and confidence in the Public Utility Commission, and this action is one of many steps that will be taken to achieve that goal.”
