TV crafts and hobbies

One thing I don’t need is another interest or hobby. That doesn’t stop me from trying something new or picking up a thing I did before. I don’t have much time for this--- try to squeeze it in at the end of the day. That’s when Zack settles in to watch a movie or some series he’s found on one of his many obscure sources--- and asks, “Can you please sit down and watch this with me”?

Voters who go to the polls for municipal and school board elections on May 7 will also be asked to decide on two proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. Deputy Secretary of State Joe Esparza drew the ballot order last week for the two proposed amendments, both dealing with property taxes.

It’s that time of year again when The Clifton Record and Meridian Tribune kick off our Best of Contest. The state of my world

Body
Periodically we have a spate of health blips, appliance failures, or both. Well, we’re there again--- started before the holidays! Is it only us? Surely not. After a week without cell phone service due to tower updates, it was finally restored. We’re spoiled by instant communication that we got along perfectly fine without for most of our lives. But when Zack’s in the pasture or otherwise out of earshot, I know he can call if he needs help or gets hurt. We need to be able to reach each other. What a relief when service was finally restored. Perhaps cell phones aren’t just a luxury anymore.

Registration form shortage as deadline nears

Body
Less than a week remains before the Jan. 31 deadline to register to vote in the March 1 primary. While Secretary of State John Scott publicly assured Texas voters that “every single eligible Texas voter will be able to register to vote if they have not done so already,” the League of Women Voters on Friday threatened to sue his office if the nonpartisan group isn’t provided with additional voter registration forms.

Traditionally speaking

The property was impressive enough, a threestory French-flared mansion with a considerable drive from the wrought iron gate to the front of the house and a flight of 16 steps leading to the portico. But more impressive yet was the display of a well-curated Christmas spirit that filled the whole house. Ample as the main room was, it now seemed diminished as it hosted six Christmas trees, the largest of which stood an imposing 10 feet tall and over 500-ornament wide.

If I only had one job

The more we do, the more needs doing. Or houses require painting just when prices are sky high. We DIY more than ever before--- at an age when anyone with any sense at all would hire a professional. Either life has become much more complicated, or my abilities are slipping. Remember when laborsaving appliances were supposed to provide more free time for leisure? Except they didn’t.

A Thank You Letter

Body
Thanks and kudos to The Clifton Record and Meridian Tribune for shining a bright spotlight on issues that directly impact the health, safety, and security of all Bosque County citizens. Legal elder fraud allegations from Alaska against our county treasurer, and her subsequent filing for bankruptcy, raise red flags for all county taxpayers.
