Jewel Blanche (Judy) Buie, 94, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017.

The funeral took place at 10 a.m. Wednesday April 12 at Greenwood- Arlington Chapel with interment; following at 3 p.m. at the Morgan Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday at Greenwood-Arlington Chapel. Memorials:

Judy was born Nov. 9, 1922 in Eden to William and Lizzie Jo Massey. She lived there until she was 17 years old and moved to San Angelo until 1941 when she moved to Dallas.

She met John Buie in San Angelo in 1941 and he left after they were engaged to assignment with the U. S. Army Air Corps in Hawaii where he was stationed when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

A resident of Arlington since 1968, she was a Cooper Award winner and life member of Arlington Women’s Club, a member of Northwest Christian Church, Encore Club, and SOS (Support Our Shelter).

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Buie; her oldest son, Carey Dale Buie; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include Son, Glen Buie, wife, Julia; brother, Marvin Ray Massey; sisters, Jo Ella Massey McMillan, Jeann Massey Milsap, June Massey Strebeck and Doris Massey Taylor; sisters-in-law, Donna Massey and Natalie Massey; cousin, Rev. Eugene Buie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to: Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Northwest Christian Church, Morgan Cemetery Association, the Meridian Museum or a charity of your choice.
