Rolling a Bowling Ball Across Meridian Lake It was winter, during the early 1980s — during one of Bosque County's most renowned cold spells. On a venture to Meridian State Park — with a cold blistering wind as the temperature sank into the single digits — Lyndell Smith wondered whether a bowling ball could be rolled all the way across the lake. To put it to a test he hiked to one side of the lake (bowling ball in tow) and Leon drove to the other to videotape the experiment. This was something which, to their knowledge, had never been attempted, since this lake seldom froze over. Unknown was whether the ball could actually be rolled all the way across. If it didn't, how would they retrieve it? They also wondered if the lake was actually frozen in the middle. Here is the video of what happened.
