Walnut Springs Takes 74-44 Win In Playoffs Print E-mail

 WALNUT SPRINGS — Taking on the Panther Creek team from Valera, the Walnut Springs Hornets six-man grid team grabbed a 74-44 win in the playoffs.

Jonathan Stack got the first TD in the first quarter and Andrew Herring’s kick was good for two to make the score 8-0.

In the second quarter Panther Creek answered with two TDs, to Walnuts three. Eddie Whitt brought in the first and second TD, with Kody Stack getting the third, and two of Herring’s kicks were good for a first half score of 30-16, Walnut.

In the third quarter, Walnut again racked up the points bringing in four touchdowns, to two for Panther Creek. Whitt ran for the first, J. Stack for the second, and Kody Stack for the third on a 50-yard int return. He also brought in the fourth on a short run.

The fourth quarter saw Panther Creek with two and Walnut with two, to round out the final score of 74-44.

The final TD was brought in by Matthew Prescher off a 40-yard pass by Whitt.

Whitt rushed for 124 yards, J. Stack, 114; K. Stack, 40; Ryan Engelhardt for 14; and K. Stack, 4.

Whitt completed 13 passes for 224 yards in the game.

Defensively, K. Stack lead with 13 tackles; Engelhardt, 8; Mario Ballesteros and Jacob White, 5 each; J. Stack, 3; and Whitt, Chase Berry, and Prescher each hitting for one.

The team stands with 11 wins, no losses in the season.
