WALNUT SPRINGS — Taking it to the end, the six-man Walnut Springs Hornets ended the season 10-0, with the win on Friday against Morgan, 52-6 at the half. In the active first quarter, Walnut pulled out four touchdowns and three Andrew Herring PATs for a 32-0 score. First TD was a 41-yard run by Johnathan Stack, followed shortly thereafter for Kody Stack bringing in a 18-yard run. Eddie Whitt then sent a 31-yard TD pass to Matthew Prescher, followed by a 34-yard pass to Jacob White with :41 on the clock. Again, in the second quarter, Walnut took the lead with a 55-yard run by Whitt for the TD, and a nine-yard run by Rey Chavez for the second TD. Morgan managed to bring in one TD off a 20-yard run with 2.59 on the clock. K. Stack topped off the score with a 39-yard run TD, and another Herring kick for the 52-6 final score. Whitt passed for 65 yards during the game, and rushed for 55. Others adding yardage with rushing were J.Stack (41), Ryan Englehart (8), Trevor Turner (13), Rey Chavez (9), and K. Stack (57). Heavy on defense were K. Stack, Chavez, White, Trey Buscha, and Andrew Herring. The Hornets received a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
