Tryin’ to figger how to describe the Cowboys loss to them Denver Broncos. I know what it created fer me. “Hell on the hill”! You can believe this. One of the four letter words what was fairly prevalent was “Romo.” You can figger some of the others. |

Some of them weather forecaster folks done changed the name of some possible rain. Instead of callin’ ‘em “scattered showers”, now they gonna call ‘em “pop-up” showers. Anything fer a little change of pace; I reckon. I just hope some of ‘em “pop-up” ‘round here. We come real close to a “NASCAR” incident here while back over to Gatesville. Whew! Bet had a Wally World attack and we in left hand lane gittin’ ready to turn left. Got rat up beside this little brown car and she decided she needed to be in my lane. I gawrantee she bound to took at least one coat of dust off our car ’fore she noticed us and swerved back to the right. She had a young boy in the front seat with her and she was talkin’ on a dad-burn cell phone. Couldn’t tell if the boy was properly strapped in or not. I dropped Bet off at one end and I went to the other end to find a parkin’ place. Then, I went in to Wally-World and thought I recognized this gal. Had a little boy in the cart. I asked her, “Maam, was you in a little brown car?” And she answered that she was and was I the guy in the white car. I commenced to tell her she scared the heck (sic) outta me and she said that it scared her too. I commenced to tell her she needed to stick that danged phone where the sun don’t shine if she was on the road. Pull over and stop. Then commenced to tell her that I didn’t much care if she got hurt in a wreck; but, I’d shore hate fer her to hurt her little boy. Or, Me and Bet. I think she got the message. (language sanitized, some) Seen on the news where a guy in a pick-up ran a stop sign and t-boned a van full of senior citizens. Killed one of ’em. He wasn’t talkin’ on a cell phone. He admitted he was lookin’ at his GPS unit tryin’ to figger out where he was, or where he was goin’. Van laid over on its side and the rest of the passengers only had minor injuries. But, like I done said; It killed one of ’em. Mebbe one of these days one of them technicians invent a cell phone that’ll scream in yore ear if any of the wheels on yore rig is turnin’. Reckon? I cain’t hardly believe that some folks is upset ’cause the President of our Nation tryin’ to talk to our young folks telling ’em to stay in school; study hard; and do what-ever to git a good education. It might have disrupted some classes fer a few minutes; but, what the heck. He ain’t tryin’ to git political with it.
Sattidy, the 5th, at the NASCAR race in Atlanta, three cute l’il gals called “Shedaisy” tried to sing the National Anthem. Notice, I said “tried.” They did not do good and I, fer some reason, git aggravated when they don’t. |

Oh, what a beautiful way to start another week here in the Heart of Texas. Monday morn started out wet. Most folks got somewhere ‘round two and a half inch of good, slow, rain. Gawrantee it’ll bring out fire-ants, and weeds. Mebbe even help the pastures and hay crop. Shore hope so ‘cause some of our farmers and ranchers really need something to turn out good. |

“Ain’t God Good”? Finally got some purty general rains thru this neck of the woods. The Gap showed 8.2 inches. Other places got anywhere from that up to 15 inches. Seems real big portion of it went rat in the ground. Filled up most of the cracks before any of it started to run off. |

Been thinking fer several days that we bound to be walkin’ ‘round in the mud. Not! Rained all around us; seems lak. Some places up north of us got way more than they wanted; or needed. Bad storms including wind, rain, and even some hail. Now, we don’t really need any the bad stuff. Just a good soakin’ rain would really be nice. Ya know, we one day closer. |
