AQUILLA — Bosque, Coryell, Hill and McLennan County farmers and ranchers are invited to attend a mechanical brush control clinic Tuesday, Sept. 22, beginning at 9 a.m., near Aquilla in southwestern Hill County. Participants are requested to arrive early to allow for program registration. The event will start on Hill County Road 2216, about one mile south of the FM 1304 and HCR 2216 intersection. Directions to the starting location can be obtained from the local Agrilife Extension Office. Program topics are: cedar removal cost share programs, brush removal cost share programs, tree shredder demonstration, skid steer demonstration, dozer demonstration, trackhoe/excavator for brush removal and stock tank presentation, brush sculpting for wildlife, wildlife feeding systems, considerations for tree removal, and pond management/chemical weed control. The program will end around 2 p.m. Two CEUs for private and commercial applicators will be provided to those who attend. Lunch will be provided during the program and a $10 registration fee will be charged to cover the cost of the meal and refreshments. Pre-registration is through one’s local county extension agent prior to the program to assist with lunch planning before noon Sept. 18.
