CLIFTON — January is National Blood Donor Month and on Jan. 26, the Mayor of Clifton will be reading and presenting a proclamation to that effect to kick off the community blood drive at noon, at the Clifton Civic Center, 403 W. 3rd. The Carter BloodCare drive is sponsored by Goodall-Witcher Hospital Auxiliary. Carter BloodCare would like to invite everyone to come out for this event. Only 37-percent of the population is eligible to give blood, but fewer than five-percent actually do. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, and be feeling well at the time of donation. Whole blood donors can give every eight weeks. One blood donation can potentially help save the lives of as many as three adults or six babies.
