CLIFTON —  Lance Cpt. Sahwn Patrick Hefner of Hico returned home to Hico after being killed in Afghanistan on Nov. 13.

His body was flown to Waco Airport Thursday morning and escorted to Hico. Throughout the trip, people honored the fallen hero alongside the highway from Waco to Hico.

The hearse was escorted by Department of Public Safety troopers in front and back along with approximatley 100 motorcycles, and many other military personnel in private vehicles.

Hefner was killed instantly when he stepped on an improvised explosive device while on foot patrol.
