CLIFTON — Tarleton State University nursing students, in collaboration with Goodall-Witcher Healthcare Foundation, will offer two free diabetes information seminars on Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the classroom at Goodall-Witcher Hospital. The first session will be at 3:30 p.m., and will be in English. A Spanish presentation will be offered at 5 p.m. Each session will last approximately one hour. Tarleton State University nursing students will present these seminars to help diabetes patients understand the importance of diabetes management. Information to be presented includes disease process facts about Type 2 diabetes, short and long-term effects of uncontrolled diabetes, diet, and information about various diabetes medicines. Diabetic-appropriate refreshments will be served. “This is a great opportunity for individuals with diabetes in our community,” said Kenneth Lowrance, RN, FNP-BC, Vice-President of Goodall-Witcher. “These students have extremely valuable information to share. I would encourage everyone with diabetes to take advantage of this free offering.” CONTACT: Jo Higginbotham at Clifton Medical Clinic, 675-8621.
