CLIFTON — City of Clifton Economic Development Corporation Secretary Robert Phillips led a discussion on the possible strategies that the EDC may implement to meet its Mission Statement and Goals for the future during regular session on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The discussion focused on several goals including: • Retention and growth of the city’s current employment base by surveying its primary employers to identify needs, problems, and expansion opportunities. • Development of separate promotional packages targeted at attracting retirees, families, and businesses to relocate to Clifton; the utilization of Charlie Hodges to develop both hard copy and internet versions; and development of PR strategy to increase activity and interest in the targeted packages. • Research the successes of similar communities to see what has worked to help the CEDC to better respond and prepare for future opportunities. In other business, John Erickson and Phillips reported on a recent lunch with Clifton Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice-President Brenda Herzog and a Glen Rose chamber director. They noted that the discussion focused on current projects and activities of both cities and reported that the meeting was beneficial in the exchange of ideas. Herzog reported on recent chambers activities. Treasurer Mike Schmidt’s monthly report and annual budget for fiscal year 2010 were approved.
