MERIDIAN — Bosque County Clerk Betty Outlaw has ansered many common questions concerning the upcoming Nov. 3 proposition and local option elections, as follows:

Q: What is on the ballot?

A:  This election will be for the Constitutional Amendments only.  There are 11 proposals from the 81st Legislature. A separate ballot will decide whether or not liquor will be sold within the city limits of Clifton, but only for the citizens of the City of Clifton.

Q: I don’t want to vote on some of the proposed Amendments; will my ballot count if I don’t vote on all 11?

A: Absolutely!  In any election the voter can choose to leave some propositions or races unmarked.  The Opti-Scan will only count the filled-in ovals on the ballot.  For example, many voters during the presidential election last November only voted on the presidential race.

Q: What do I need in order to vote?

A:  A current (orange) Voter’s Registration Card.  If you have lost your card, contact the Voter Registrar’s Office, (254) 435-2301.

Q: Where and when do I vote Early in Person?

A: Early Voting in Person is being held at the same location as the past few years -104 West Morgan Street, Meridian (next door to the Tax Office).  It began Monday, Oct. 19 and ends Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 — hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Early Voting Location (104 West Morgan, Meridian) IS NOT OPEN ON ELECTION DAY.

Q: Where do I vote on Election Day?

A: Look on your Voter Registration Card, right hand side, and find your Commissioner Precinct Number.  You will vote at the polling place that corresponds with that number:

Commissioner #1 - Steiner (Steele Creek) New Fire Station – 1336 FM 1713, Morgan 76671.

    Commissioner #2 - Meridian Fire Station – 110 Bateman Street, Meridian 76665.

Commissioner #3- Valley Mills Old City Hall – 107 South 4th Street, Valley Mills 76689.

Commissioner #4 - Clifton Civic Center – 403 West Third Street, Clifton 76634.

Local Option Election — Clifton

City of Clifton Local Option Election will be in the Clifton Civic Center.  Only citizens of the City of Clifton (within the city limits) are allowed to vote in this election.

Q: Why are there only four polling places and is this a permanent change?

A:  The reason for the consolidation was economic. An Amendment Election is normally a low-turnout type of election and the commissioners voted to have only one polling place in each Commissioner’s Precinct. The change is only for this election.
