A Texas memorial service will be held for Rose Crawford Turner, 73, of Southfield, Mich., on Jan. 16, 2010, at the Baptist church, Mosheim. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the service. Following the service, a meal will be served in the Mosheim Community Center. Rose Lee Crawford Turner passed away Dec. 17, 2009, in the Mary Crest Manor nursing facility, Livonia, Mich., after numerous health challenges that she confronted bravely and with dignity. A memorial service was held Dec. 22, 2009, at Central United Methodist Church, Waterford, Mich. The body was cremated. Rose Lee Crawford was born April 15, 1936, in the Spring Creek community near Iredell to Andy Tillman and Lorean (Allen) Crawford. She grew up in Mosheim and graduated from Mosheim High School, where she excelled at basketball. After high school, she worked in Clifton as a waitress at the Cozy Corner Cafe, then at Walls Manufacturing. She and Lloyd L. Turner were married July 25, 1959, by the Rev. Guy Nelson, at the Mosheim Baptist Church. One son, Lloyd L. Turner II, was born to their union. Her primary passions were family and being active in church functions, followed by studying history, traveling, photography, her flower gardens, watching basketball games at all levels, and the Dallas Cowboys. She was a vivacious individual always ready to host family and friends, whether few or many. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sisters, Emma Jean (at infancy) and Emma Jean Johnston (Mrs. Harold B.), and Marsalene Crawford; brothers, James and Robert; and nephew, Robert Earl Crawford. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd; and son, Lloyd and wife, Sommer, and granddaughter, Emma Grace; step-children, Rebekah Renee Schimmel and Noah Richard Mishark; brothers, A. Glenn and Mary Alice Crawford, Rushville, Ill.; and Bill Jr. and Earlene Crawford, Alba; sisters-in-law Myrtle Crawford and Cleo Crawford, and a host of nieces and nephews. Interment of cremains will be at a later date in the Lanes Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mosheim Community Center, c/o Audrey Cox, Mosheim, or Miss Lizzie Memorial Fund, c/o Lanell Mueller of Clifton, or a charity of choice.
