Mildred “Tessie” Compton, 94, of Ocee, passed away at her home surrounded by family and friends on Jan. 3, 2010. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, at Compton Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home.
Mildred Burks was born Sept. 13, 1915, in McLennan County. She was the daughter of Alfred and Ollie (Smith) Burks.
She was married to Woodrow Compton on Dec. 8, 1937, in Ocee. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. She had lived in the Crawford - Ocee area most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow; son Terry; and grandson Dickie Massingill.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan Compton of Crawford; a son, Danny Compton and wife, Pat, of Crawford; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many loving friends, family and care givers.
