Funeral services for Gaylon Blum Winton, 84, were held Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Clifton Funeral Home in Clifton, conducted by the Rev. Gene Creamer and Rev. Bill Hickson. Interment was at Bulman Cemetery. Gaylon Blum was born on Jan. 24, 1925, to Charlie and Zella Blum in Hamilton. She passed away on Dec. 8, 2009, from complications of alzheimers. She attended elementary school in Pleasant Valley and graduated high school in Jonesboro. As WWII started, she enrolled in nursing school in Waco to become an RN. On March 14, 1946, she and Carl R. Winton were married and had 64 happy years together. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, June and Nelson Blum. Survivors include her husband, Carl Winton; sons and wives, Carl and Shirley Winton of Burnet and Jimmy and Frances Winton of Rosenberg; three grandchildren, Stacy Winton, Shari Thorn, and Daryl Roberts; and three great-grandchildren; and one brother and wife, Alan and Jo Blum of Clifton.
