Graveside services for Carrol W. Wise, 68, were held Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Clifton Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Smith of First Baptist Church, officiating. Wise was born on March 16, 1941, at home in Mosheim, to Felix and Bessie Wise. He was the youngest child of a family of 10. He was baptized at the Baptist Church in Mosheim. He entered into his heavenly home in peace on Nov. 25, 2009. He graduated in 1959 from Clifton High School. He then entered the Army National Guard on June 8, 1959, where he served his country for four years. He was qualified as an expert marksman on several different weapons. Upon honorable discharge on March 27, 1963, from the Army National Guard, he was employed at the Gatesville prison as a security guard. On March 28, 1963, he enlisted in the Navy where he gave his country another two years in South Carolina, Spain, and North Africa (Casa Blanca). He was honorably discharged from the Navy on March 23, 1965. His post-military career consisted of 15 years in the garment industry, primarily with Walls Manufacturing and Double LL Garment Factory. He was employed for seven years at the Comanche Peak Power Plant in Glen Rose. After 15 years as ground superintendent of Bosque Valley Golf Club, and at the age of 65, he entered retirement. He always considered Clifton as his home. His hobbies consisted of hunting, fishing, golfing, reading, watching sports, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Bessie Wise; sisters, Irene Lanelle Wise Golden, Audrey Annette (Peggy) Wise Vanetten, Betty Jean Wise Brock, and Jonnie Doran Wise Tenerille. Survivors include his son, Jeff Wise and wife, Denise, of Clifton; daughter, Janel Wise of Plano; grandson, Brayden Wise of Clifton; granddaughters, Brill Wise and Brystel Wise, of Clifton; brothers, Billy Ray Wise of Clifton, James Wise of Clifton; sisters, Fay Wise Janashak of Phoenix, Ariz., Wanda Wise Miller of Clifton, Diane Wise Burl and husband, Carl, of Griffin, Ga., along with a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Clifton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
