CLIFTON — The Meyer Observatory will host its monthly star party at 7:30 p.m., July 4, with the “night sky” the highlight of the monthly event.

During the evening, one can learn about the stars, planets, and satellites that can be seen without a telescope, and then the members of the observatory will take one deeper into outer space, far beyond our solar system, to see star clusters, galaxies, and even the remains of exploded stars — via telescopes and the 24-inch Meyer telescope.

“Each event is designed to describe our activities and to share our passion for astronomy. We always have an indoor program, unless conditions demand that we close for safety considerations. In addition, weather permitting, visitors may experience the heavens with portable telescopes and the 24-inch Meyer telescope,” said a spokesman.

The Central Texas Astronomical Society also supports the young people of Central Texas who compete in science fairs and in astronomical research in collaboration with leading astronomers.
