Actively seeking fitness this summer

The Goodall-Witcher Fitness and Wellness Center has been staying busy, closing out its second “Biggest Loser” 10-week session and starting up summer classes. For the first time, the Center introduces Tae Kwon Do classes for kids. The Tiny Tigers class is for ages 4-5 and Little Dragons for ages 5-8.

UIL evolves with changing times

For the University Interscholastic League, fair play and maximizing participation for the student-athletes in Texas remain to focus of its attention. And making sure they get to do so in the best of all venues in front as many people as possible, of course. While the UIL football state championships for all classifications will most likely stay at Dallas Cowboy AT&T Stadium in Arlington for the time being, a change stands inevitable.

Clifton 14U baseball stands undefeated

The Clifton 14u team sponsored by the Bosque County Farm Bureau and coached by Thomas Oliver has come through the season undefeated with only one game left to play at Bosqueville. The team, which includes 14 players and loads of talent, plays in the local American League.

Meridian runner storms Dublin Stampede

After qualifying for the Class 1A, Division I, Region II track and field championships in the 3200-meter and 1600-meter runs held in Abilene in May, Meridian’s Latham Hensley did not want to take the summer off. So after spending a month focusing on a weight training program, Hensley competed at the 12th Annual Dublin Irish Stampede 5K race last Saturday. And after winning the race by nearly a full minute, it became clear the hard work was paying off.
