Ronald Eugene Smith

Ronald Eugene (Bucky) Smith, age 58, of Valley Mills passed away Dec. 30, 2014 at Ridgecrest Care Center after a short illness. A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to Patton Baptist Church. Bucky was born on Feb. 16, 1956, in Waco, to Gene and Frankie (Clements) Smith. He was a 1974 graduate of Valley Mills High School. Bucky worked for Texas New Mexico Power and Light for 20 years and had worked for Sherwin Williams Paint. He had also been employed at Texas Department of Corrections in Ft. Stockton and at Clifton Chemical Lime. Bucky loved his family and regardless where he lived; he loved to fish. Survivors include his parents, Gene and Frankie Smith of Valley Mills; two sons, Ty Smith West of Ft. Worth, Aaron Smith of Kentucky; a daughter, Christen Smith of Kentucky; and a sister, Rebecca Smith of North Richland Hills.

Elenore Hulda Wiede

Memorial Services were held for Elenore Hulda Wiede, 95, on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 at Zion United Church with the Rev. Buck Malone officiating. Elenore Hulda Wiede was born on Oct. 13, 1919 to Louis A. and Anna Thiele Eckert in the Cayote community of Bosque County. She passed away Dec. 25, 2014. She was baptized in St. John’s Evangelical church near Cayote on April 2, 1920 by Reverend Theo Pfundt and had her faith confirmed in the same church on April 8, 1934 by Reverend George Diehm. In 1946 she became a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Womack when the two churches merged. She was active in many church activities, especially in the women’s ministry. When the church was compiling a record of its history, she wrote the portion on The History of Saint John’s Evangelical Church, which is on display at Zion UCC. Elenore attended elementary school in Cayote and graduated from Clifton High School in 1936.

Orin R. Jorder

Orin R. Jordet, age 77, of St. Cloud, MN died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House, in St. Augusta, MN. Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Cloud. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud at a later date. Orin was born Feb. 9, 1937 in Sacred Heart, MN to Otto A. and Florence B. (Bonde) Jordet. He was Baptized on April 11, 1937 and confirmed on June 15, 1952 at First English Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart, MN. Orin married Mary Ann Hall on Aug. 11, 1957 (the hottest day of the year) at the Congregational Church in Granite Falls, MN. In his childhood Orin was active in 4-H, Boy Scouts, Band (playing the baritone) and One Act Play. He served in the U.S. Navel Reserve for eight years. Orin worked at Sherco Power Plant in Becker from 1975- 1994 retiring as Operations manager. He was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud and Trinity Lutheran Church, Clifton.

Bryan Mark Adams

Memorial services for Bryan Mark Adams, 51, of Vancouver WA, will be held Jan. 11, 2015, at the Metropolitan Community Church of the Gentle Shepherd in Vancouver. Bryan Adams passed away on Nov. 27, 2014, peacefully at home. He was born on June 18, 1963, in Laramie WY. He graduated from Brazosport High School in Lake Jackson. He served in the United States Navy as an Electronics Technician and received an honorable discharge. He attended Galveston College and while there, participated in the cast and staff of “Lone Star” and “Hollo Dolly” of the Galveston Summer Musicals. He was also a graduate of Texas State Technical College in Waco, and on the President’s Honor Roll for the Fall quarter 1998. He was a certified PADI Scuba Diving Instructor and held over 10 DAN Individual Scuba Diving certifications.  He was the owner and operator of Dynamis Web Design in Vancouver. Earl Christian Huse

Earl Christian Huse, 85, of Clifton, formerly of Mesquite, was called to glory by his Lord on Dec. 13, 2014, in the Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse, with Pastor Ruth Hetland officiating. He was born on April 7, 1929, the son of Johnnie and Belle Bronstad Huse. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse. He was a faithful member of our Savior’s Lutheran Church. An honors graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Huse served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1989 following a 35 years career in employee and public relations. He was a member of numerous professional, academic and civic organizations. He was a life member of the University of Texas Ex-students Association and the American Legion. Earl was united in marriage to Gladys Faye Monk of Terrell in 1960.

Estella Thiele

Funeral services for Estella Thiele, 83, of Valley Mills, were held Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Norse with Pastor Ruth Hetland officiating. Estella Marie Gaskamp was born on July 30, 1031, in Mosheim, to Albert and Annie Hoverland Gaskamp. She passed away at Goodall-Witcher Nursing Facility on Saturday, Dec. 20. She attended schools in Concord, TN and at Mosheim. On Nov. 11, 1950, she married Carl Thiele at the Bismark Lutheran Church. The couple had five children. She was a housewife and had lived in the Clifton area. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a son, Marvin; her parents; and three brothers and two sisters.

Nancy Hardwick Burch

Nancy Hardwick Burch, age 88, of Valley Mills passed away in a Clifton Nursing home Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 21, 2014, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Interment will be at the Valley Mills Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Memorials may be made to the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Nancy Lee Hardwick Burch was born on May 28, 1926 in Abilene, Texas. She was welcomed into the family of Chester and Era Mae Perkins Hardwick by her older sister, Dorothy Jean. Her younger sister, Sarah Lou, completed the family two years later. Nancy attended Valley Mills High School where she was a straight A student. Nancy met Homer Louis (Red) Burch and they married in 1950. They lived in various cities in Texas, moving with Red’s work with the Santa Fe Railroad. Their son, James Douglas (Doug) Burch was born during this time. Nancy became a military wife after Red reenlisted.

Alice Faye Rude

Alice Faye Rude went home to be with her Savior on December 12, 2014. She was 73 years old, and had struggled with stoke related health issues over the past 2 years. Alice was born on December 18, 1940 in Clifton, Texas. She grew up in Clifton and graduated from Concordia Junior College in Austin, Texas and then earned a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska. She started her teaching career in Wilson, Texas and was soon married in McAllen, Texas in July of 1967. After marriage she moved to West Chester, Ohio when her husband found employment as an accountant in the steel industry. They moved back to Texas in 1975 after the birth of their son and death of her father. Once back in Texas, Alice raised her son and kept busy by teaching kindergarten and her passion, first grade, in Lutheran schools in the Dallas area. Alice was also an avid gardener and enjoyed raising horses on the family’s 6 acres in Midlothian Texas.

Cary Duston Hinson

Cary Duston Hinson, 45, of Lebanon, formerly of Morgan, Texas, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, in Lebanon, Missouri. He was born on March 28, 1969, in Fort Worth, Texas, and was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Meador of Morgan. Cary graduated from Morgan ISD in 1987. He was in retail sales for many years and was a former Marine. Survivors include a son, Duston Hinson; a daughter, Caytlyn Hinson; and their mother, Danielle Turcotte, all of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; his father and stepmother, Woody and Sharon Hinson, of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Allison Crawford, of Waco, Texas; nephews Tyler Hinson-Bible and Nicholas Hinson, both of Meridian; also other relatives and friends. Services for Cary Duston Hinson will be held at a later date. His body is to be cremated under the direction of Shadel’s Colonial Chapel of Lebanon.
