Doris Fenn

Doris Fenn, age 91, of Clifton, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 1, 2014,in the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, where she had been a resident for the past several years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 5, in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Walnut Springs. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Wednesday. Doris was born in Vernon, Texas on November 7, 1922 to Jesse Earl Deaver and Jessie Lee Wirt Deaver. She had two older sisters, Arlene Gaither and Alene Deaver, who preceded her in death. Doris grew up in Glen Rose, Texas and attended school there where she graduated from high school. She met and married John D. Fenn. They married on May 11, 1940, in Meridian and spent the next 62 years happily married. Doris and John D.

Charline Sellers Griffith

Charline Sellers Griffith, age 71, of Morgan, passed away Monday, Oct. 27, in a Waco hospital. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the Morgan Cemetery with Bro. Phil Murphy officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Ricky Seay, Jeremy Seay, Kyle Williams, Kevin Williams, Todd Murphy and T. L. Griffith. Charline was born Aug 30, 1943, in Clifton. She was a daughter of Mary Jo Williams Sellers and the late Harry Sellers. She worked as a hospital administrative clerk for many years. She last worked at the Glen Rose Medical Center She is survived by her husband, Travis Wayne Griffith, of Morgan; daughters, Dede Matus and husband, Steve, of China Spring, Deanne Derrick and husband, Richard, of Cleburne; grandchildren, Rebecca Word of Waco and Dayna Derrick of Ft.

Doty Patton

Doty Patton, age 77, Meridian, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 29, at her residence near Meridian. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, in the Meridian First Baptist Church with Rev. Colin Errington and Rev. Richard Creech officiating. Interment was in the Meridian Cemetery, Meridian, Texas. Serving as her pallbearers are Chris Anderson, Joel Anderson, Cole Word, Roger Parsons, Bruce Knudson and Don McMahon. Doty Dunn was born Feb. 6, 1937 in Plano, to Verda Love Rose Dunn and Theron Tennison Dunn. She was raised and educated in the McKinney school district. While in high school in McKinney she excelled in their women’s basketball program. On March 2, 1957 she became the bride of Don Robert (Bob) Patton in Dallas. After living in the Plano area for many years, Bob and Doty moved to their home near Meridian in 1980. Doty was a retired insurance agency secretary, and an active member of the Meridian First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.

Charles Lee Guinn

Charles Lee Guinn, age 75, of Meridian, passed away early Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 2014, in the Goodall- Witcher Hospital in Clifton. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Charlie was born April 1, 1939, in McGregor, Texas. He was a son of the late Luther Joe Guinn and Beulah Bell Riley Guinn. The family moved to Meridian when he was in the third grade and he graduated from Meridian High School. Charlie had lived in Clifton for 35 years before moving to Meridian a few years ago. He was retired from the Clifton Moulding Company. He is survived by his daughters, Kathie Witte and husband, David, of Cranfills Gap and Kimberly Young and husband, Rick, of Academy; and four grandchildren. James W. Lair

James W. Lair Passed away at the age of 90 years on Oct. 28, 2014 following a sudden illness. A private memorial was held Nov. 4 in Meridian Texas and his final resting place will be at Arlington Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Virginia on a date still to be determined. Lair was born on July 4, 1924. He graduated from Texas A&M, and for went on to serve his country for over 30, fighting communism in the far east. He was a World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his mother, Letha (Tompkins) Swaffar. He is survived by his uncle Billy C. Tompkins, a daughter Letha C. Lair, son James W. Lair II, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. For all of those who had the pleasure to know him, he is loved and will surely be missed.

Richard Lee Petty, Sr.

Richard Lee Petty Sr., 58, of Cranfills Gap, Texas passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014 in a Waco, Texas hospital. A Memorial funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian, Texas with David Jones and Charlie Jones officiating. Richard was born Oct. 10, 1956, in Yuba City, California. He moved to Bosque County at a young age where he was raised and educated. On Jan. 23, 1984, he was united in marriage to Leslie Meyer in Meridian. Richard had lived near Cranfills Gap for several years and was a automotive mechanic. Mr.

Michael Floyd Pickard

Michael Floyd Pickard, 68, passed away at his residence on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014. Grave side services were held Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 at Clifton Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Herbert Lammert presiding. Visitation was at the Clifton Funeral Home on Thursday. Michael Pickard was born Oct. 3, 1946 in Fort Worth, to Floyd and Lela Mae (McCormick) Pickard. Michael was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed coaching his daughters in any and all activities. His greatest joys were fishing with his grandson and tea parties with his granddaughters. He was a loving, caring, kind hearted man with a warm word for all. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon, and two daughters, Leighan Copple and husband Mike; and Lynn Knaak and husband Christian; and three grandchildren, Luke Copple, Laura Copple and Carson Knaak. The family requests that in leiu of flowers, please make a donation to the local food pantry in his name.

Susanne Bradley Stockard

Susanne Bradley Stockard, 60, went to be with her Lord and the angels on Oct. 9, 2014 in Houston, after a year-long battle with cancer. Susanne and husband David Stockard, who grew up in Meridian, had  already partially moved to a family home in Meridian for retirement, but the cancer delayed the final move. Funeral services were held at Mission Bend United Methodist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Burial was in Meridian Cemetery on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Susanne so much had looked forward to life in the country and sitting in the backyard, with her pug dogs. She was a Christian from a long-time Methodist ministerial family and was confident that she was going to be with her Lord and the angels, having seen the bright lights and angels in her dreams. She was ready. Susanne was born on Nov. 30, 1953 in Shreveport, LA to Osborn Walker Bradley, Jr. and Edna Floreine Crater Bradley. She attended Captain Shreve High School in Shreveport, graduating from Spring Woods High School in Houston.

James Arthur Guinn

James Arthur Guinn, born Aug. 1, 1945 in Meridian, to parents Arthur and Billie (Smith) Guinn, passed away Oct. 31, 2014 in Iredell Texas. James also known as J.A. and Zero, loved hunting, fishing, flying remote controlled airplanes and oil painting. J.A. was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Billie Guinn. J.A. is survived by wife Sandra Guinn, son; Eddie Guinn and wife Marla, daughter; Amy VanWinkle and husband Gary, brothers; Danny Guinn and wife Betty and Chuck Guinn and wife Cheryl, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nephews, nieces and cousins and numerous friends. Funeral services were held Monday Nov. 3, 2014, at Harvest Hills Funeral Home in Hico with burial to follow at Mitchell Cemetery, Iredell.

Billy Don Price

Billy “Bill” Don Price, 78, of Laguna Park went to be with the Lord on Oct. 31, 2014, at Providence Hospital in Waco. There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial at Riverside Baptist Church in Meridian. A meal will be served for the family from 11-12 on Nov. 8, 2014, the memorial will follow at 1 p.m. Bill Price was born on Jan. 18, 1936, in Peacock, Stonewell County, Texas. He retired from Chemical Lime in 2001 with 15 years of service. He worked for the Sweetwater Fire Department in 1964; served six years in the National Guard; two years in the Army Reserves; and spent time in the Army. He loved playing guitar, singing, and had a band for 25 years. For the last three years he was very active in his family church. He loved to teach his church family members how to play the guitar. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Jackson Prince, mother, Hazel Inez Agnew Price; brother, Denver Price and two nephews, Darryl Price and Sterling Lofton.
